Catelynn Lowell is struggling with the boundaries her biological daughter Carly’s adopted parents have put in place.
The Teen Mom OG star called out Brandon and Teresa Davis on her Instagram Story on Sept. 9, claiming that the couple, who adopted Carly from Catelynn and her husband Tyler Baltierra in 2009, have “blocked” her from speaking to their daughter.
"At the end of the day I think her parents feel scared/ threatened because Carly would ask questions about why we don't get together anymore, why we can't just fly to her for a weekend etc.," Catelynn explained. "I will ALWAYS support Carly loving her parents. They love her and raised her! But the fact that they keep us distant does not help Carly."
Catelynn alleged that she was blocked by Brandon and Teresa for “sending updates and pictures of her sisters,” adding, “how is that fair for Carly and her siblings?"
The 32-year-old also shares daughters Novalee, 9, Vaeda, 5, and Rya, 2, with Tyler, 32, and lamented her restrictions as a biological mom to an adopted daughter.
"When you're a bio mom you have no say... no control," Catelynn continued. "All I can do is show Carly in the future how much I tried and continue to do so... she can make the decision herself to understand who shut who out."
Catelynn also denied putting Brandon and Teresa “on blast” with her post, noting, “I am literally just sharing my own feelings, not calling them any hurtful names or anything. As bio parents we are taught to just take what’s given to us and that we should feel ‘lucky’ but if anything goes wrong, we need to shut up and be quiet.”
As for Tyler, he has stood by his wife’s side for years as the couple were middle school sweethearts. He also cherishes time with their eldest daughter, posting about the most recent visit on Instagram in June 2023.
“She’s so smart. She’s so kind. She’s goofy & her laughing face is imprinting & infectious,” he wrote of Carly. “Her parents have done such an amazing job raising her! It’s pure magic watching her play with her sisters, because all you hear are echoes of the same laugh & all you see are tons of hugs! They have an unmistakable connection that’s bonded between forces that are far greater than just shared dna…it’s pure transcendental magic. I never wanted it to end.”
In May, Tyler and Catelynn shared that they were denied their annual visit to see Carly. At the time, Tyler noted that they were "not entitled" to seeing Carly, but that the decision was still "disappointing."

"I can't believe how fast she's growing," Tyler Balitierra shared on Instagram when celebrating Nova's last day of school. "Watching her grow up is the most beautiful thing I've ever witnessed & being her father is literally a dream come true! She's growing into such a beautiful, independent & fierce little girl & I can't wait to see what next year holds for her!"
There's nothing quite like a sibling bond. Fortunately, Catelynn Lowell captured this candid moment on social media.
"Blessed beyond belief that I had these 2 beautiful girls under my arms for date night last night!" Tyler Baltierra shared on Instagram after enjoying a quite night in.
When celebrating Carly's 10th birthday, Tyler Baltierra shared a special photo of his eldest daughter he placed up for adoption with his wife. "10 years ago...your life changed so many others for the better & has blessed more lives than I can count, " he wrote. "We love you so much & hopefully get to see you soon baby girl. Happy Birthday Carly! #Adoption."
